Here is a write up on the biggest cylinder player companies and their models

Edison:

Edison, created by Thomas Edison, was the biggest name and producer of these cylinder phonograph records during the late 1890s and even late 1920s (records though, probably stopped machine production after 1919). They are identified as “Edison” is typically written on a banner on the outside of the phonograph or a small plaque inside. They had many many models and a few different types, the important thing to know is that there were floor standing models, typical small case models, and tabletop models too. Names are things I can deal with if you send me a photo via email or description by phone. Some names though are…

Fireside

Home

Standard

Concert

Amberola

etc. etc. etc…

Not much else to be said that can’t be shown with photos or email/call to me! Though some if not most Edison model types had their names on the banner outside or plaque inside, for example “Edison home phonograph” on the outside.

Columbia:

Columbia seemed to be the second largest company making these cylinder machines and records and they too had many models. The general name can be identified by “Columbia”, “Graphophone”, or even both written on a banner on the outside of the model (case and base). The specific model identification process is different I think as it’s only written on a plaque inside, maybe some show outside. Some model names are…

AZ

BQ

C

N

B

etc. etc. etc…

You know the drill, the rest is email/call or just by looking at these photos and then doing the former.

There were other companies like lakeside though they followed the same or similar designs as shown here.
